1923 - 2014 | Obituary Condolences
CHICAGO – Michael G. Plesa, 90, of Chicago, passed away Friday, May 30, 2014, at Presence Resurrection Medical Center in Chicago.
Born Dec. 31, 1923, in DeKalb, to George and Manda Plesa, he was a corporal during World War II and a Silver Star recipient.
He is survived by his two sons, Robert of Chicago and Jim of Portland, Oregon; grandchildren, Jacqueline, Cameron and Austin of Portland; and sisters, Mary of DeKalb and Joanne of Columbus, Ohio. He also is survived by James Winkle, his life-partner of 37 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Eileen of Park Ridge; ex-wife, Corinne; older brothers, Nick and Paul; and sisters, Ann and Kay, all of DeKalb.
A memorial Mass will be held at noon Saturday, June 7, at St. Mary Catholic Church with the Rev. Steven Lange celebrating. Burial will follow services at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery with full military honors provided by DeKalb's American Legion, VFW and AMVETS. The visitation will be from 11 a.m. Saturday, until the time of the service at the church.
