1937 - 2014 Obituary Condolences
ROCKFORD – Peggy Hoffman, 76, of Rockford, Illinois, passed into God's welcoming arms on May 15, 2014, at home with her loving and devoted husband, Stu, and caretaker, Glenda, at her side. Peggy is finally at peace after being bitten by a neuro-invasive West Nile infected mosquito in September of 2005. Her faith in God and her medical knowledge as a Registered Nurse never wavered as she fought the good fight.
Peggy A. Cadugan was born July 1, 1937, in Philadelphia, the daughter of Edward G. and Martha Sunderland Cadugan. Peggy was very proud of her Pennsylvania roots and remained in contact with some special childhood friends. Her family moved to Seattle and then to Rockford, and she graduated from West High School in 1955. When her family moved back to Pennsylvania, she remained in Rockford and graduated from Rockford Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1970.
She met Stuart Hoffman in 1988 and they were married April 7, 1990. For the two of them, after God, family was of utmost importance. She and Stu were active members of Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church and on several committees.
She is survived by husband, Stuart; son, Michael (Laura Grossenbacher) Duffey; daughters, Kwynn Duffey (Vincent) Nicholas and Stephanie Hoffman; son, Dustin (fiance' Crystal Detzner) Hoffman; grandchildren, Alyson (Matt) Chumbley, Ryan Treanor, Christian Treanor and Nathan (Maggie O'Brien) Hoffman; brother, Ed (Nancy); Stu's siblings, Tom (Louise) Hoffman, Nancy Bakanas and Lori (John) Roser; and many adoring nieces and nephews.
The family offers special thanks to Dr. Steve Diamond and staff, VNA Hospice and LSSI In Touch.
Peggy's life will be celebrated with a memorial service at 11 a.m. June 7, preceded by visitation at 10 a.m., at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, 2715 S. Mulford Road, Rockford, IL 61109, with Pastor Janet Wold officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations can go toward later designation or Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church.
