DeKALB – Phylliss Ann (Hazel) Lundgren, 66, of DeKalb, Ill., died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014, at Kishwaukee Hospital, DeKalb.
She was born May 7, 1947, in Aurora, and was the daughter of Russell and Neva (Anderson) Hazel.
Phylliss graduated from East Aurora High School in 1965 and earned her associate degree in accounting from Kishwaukee College. She married Charles Lundgren on Dec. 5, 1970, at the United Methodist Church in Aurora. Phylliss worked at Ideal Industries for 20 years and spent the past several years at Thermofisher Scientific in Rockford.
Phylliss was a part of the Garden Walk for many years along with working with Junior Achievement, and she was a member of the Kishwaukee Hospital Auxiliary. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in DeKalb and Christ the Teacher Parish in DeKalb, where she served on the Parish Council, as a Eucharistic minister and lector. She was part of the RCIA program at St. Mary in DeKalb. She loved to garden and spend quality time with her grandchildren. She will be remembered for her light-hearted personality along with her amazing sense of humor.
Survivors include husband, Charles of DeKalb; daughters, Sara (Jeromy) Olson of DeKalb and Anni (Randy) Schleicher of Sycamore; three grandchildren, Derek and Olivia Olson and Grant Schleicher; two sisters, Janice (Dick) Rumpff of Festus, Mo., and Wanda Morrison of Davenport, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A funeral Mass will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, at St. Mary Catholic Church in DeKalb with the Rev. James Parker of St. Mary Church in DeKalb and the Rev. Matthew McMorrow of Christ the Teacher Parish concelebrating. Burial will take place at a later date at Fairview Park Cemetery, DeKalb. The visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7, at Ronan-Moore-Finch Funeral Home, 310 Oak St., DeKalb, IL 60115.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Mary School in DeKalb.
