Ray Bradley Weisenburger, 87, of Manhattan, passed away Sunday evening February 25th, at Meadowlark Hills Retirement Community, Manhattan, KS. He was retired from KSU after 50 yrs of service.

Ray was born in Aurora, IL on November 8, 1930, the son of the late Hilma (Lindholm) and Everett Weisenburger. He was united in marriage to Patricia Ann Jensen on June 19, 1956, in Sandwich IL. She survives in Olathe at a memory care center. Ray grew up in Millington, IL and graduated from Sandwich High School, Sandwich, IL; and received a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Illinois, Urbana, IL; he received his Master's in Urban & Regional Planning from Cornell University, Ithaca, NY.

He was a registered architect and landscape architect, who began his career at Kansas State University in 1964, serving as the Associate Dean of the KSU College of Architecture, Planning and Design from 1993 to 2005. He was instrumental in establishing the Kansas Preservation Alliance's Brick Streets and Sidewalks Preservation Program and serving on its board of directors, he was the board's Vice President from 1987-1989, and President from 1989-1992. He was the board's liaison to the American Institute of Architects Historic Resources Committee from 1996-2007. He was on the Kansas State Historic Sites Review Board from 1981-1986. He was a member of Manhattan's Urban Area Planning Board from 1981-1999, serving as chair from 1985-1987 and, 1995-1996. He also served on Manhattan's Historic Resources Board. In 2010 Ray was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Kansas Preservation Alliance.

Ray is survived by his wife, Pat Jenson; daughter, Dia (Mike) Moya, of Manhattan; a son, Bradley (Joleen) Weisenburger, of Spring Hill, KS; daughter, Laura (Byron) Mitchell, of Claremore, OK. Also, surviving are his grandchildren, Brooke (Brent) Mulford, Ryan Weisenburger, Avery Fowles, Madison Mitchell, McKenzi Smith, Karli Smith, Kaci Jo Smith, Scarlett Crider, Brianna Moya, Victoria (William) Titlow, Macy Mulford; and a great-grandson, William Michael Titlow.

Ray is preceded in death by his parents.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Saturday, March 3rd at Irvin-Parkview Funeral Home & Cremation in Manhattan, with a graveside on Friday, March 9, 2018, at the Oak Ridge Cemetery, Sandwich, IL at 11:00 am.
