SYCAMORE – Severn J. Vitkus Jr., 71, of Sycamore, Ill., died at 9:45 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, at Kishwaukee Community Hospital, DeKalb. |
Born Monday, July 21, 1941, in Elkhorn, Wis., to Severn Vitkus Sr. and Aina (Blad) Vitkus, he married Margaret ""Peg"" (Kenaga) on Oct. 26, 1963, in Elmhurst.
Severn retired from Kishwaukee College after working 18 years as an information technician. Severn loved fishing, he was a former member of the Elks, and he was a lifelong Green Bay Packers fan.
Severn is survived by his wife, Peg; three sons, Stuart (Mary), Scott (Ramona) and Steve (Karen) Vitkus, all of Sycamore; two grandchildren, Lyndsay and Justin; three step-grandchildren, Drew and Andrea Kwait and Michael (Claire) Smith; six great-grandchildren, Max, Avery, Sophia, Kylan, Canyon and Zariah; three sisters-in-law, Sharon Vitkus, Janice Ecos and Carol Vitkus; and one brother-in-law, Keith ""Chuck"" Kenaga.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Jan and Mark.
Memorial services will be held at noon Saturday, Oct. 20, at The Federated Church of Sycamore. The visitation will be from 10 a.m. Saturday until the time of service at the church.
Memorial contributions can be made to Country View Square (Dementia/Alzheimer's Unit) at DeKalb County Rehab & Nursing Center.
