Born Dec. 26, 1943, in DeKalb, the daughter of Merrill V. and Sylvia F. (Lockenour) Anderson, Shirley said she was blessed when she married Raymond Russell Rohrer on Nov. 26, 1965, at St. Mary Catholic Church, DeKalb, where she was a member. She spent 48 loving years with her husband.
Shirley spent most of her life as a farm wife, mother and homemaker, but also worked as office manager at Shabbona Health Care Center for 23 years. She worked as a secretary for a car dealership, a finance company and at an attorney's office. Shirley spent many days helping Raymond with planting and harvesting.
She enjoyed the company of family and friends, and playing cards, reading, quilting, sewing, doing cross stitch and watching movies. Shirley also enjoyed eating out, antiquing, going to garage and estate sales, and traveling. Her most enjoyable time was spent with grandchildren discussing events in their lives.
She is survived by her husband, Ray; sons, Edward (Denise) Rohrer of Petersburg, Illinois, and Rodney (Donna) Rohrer of Morristown, Tennessee; daughters, Linda (Brent) Schmit of Elburn and Beth DeGand of Elburn; grandchildren, Kristen, Trent and Megan (Ed's children), Walker, Wyatt, Jared and Waylon (Rod's), Braden and Cheyanne (Linda's), and Dakota and Samantha (Beth's); siblings, Gloria (Denny) Stehl of Lee, Marilyn (Jan) Masilunis of Port Orange, Florida, Ross (Nancy) Anderson of Mendota Heights, Minnesota, and Marlin (Ann) Anderson and Merlin (Betty) Anderson, both of Malta; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
