DeKALB – Susan M. Meziere, 63, of DeKalb, Ill., died unexpectedly Friday, March 29, 2013 in the emergency room at Kishwaukee Community Hospital. She was born Sept. 4, 1949 in Schenectady, N.Y., and was the daughter of Philip and Phyllis (Robowski) Doherty.|
Susan graduated from DeKalb High School in 1967 and went on to Cook County School of Nursing to earn her Nursing Certificate. She was a nurse at Elmhurst Hospital for 21 years and for the last year and a half she worked at Manor Care in Naperville.
Susan married Robert E. Meziere, Jr. on Oct. 3, 1970 in Chicago. They lived and raised their family in the suburbs before moving to DeKalb six years ago to be closer to Susanís family. She loved her yard, traveling, spending time with her grandchildren and entertaining and cooking for her entire family.Susan was a member of Christ the Teacher Parish in DeKalb.
Survivors include: husband Robert, of DeKalb; children, Michelle (Gary Chioda) Meziere, of Hinsdale, Nicole (Mark) Renkosik, of Algonquin, Robert (Gina) Meziere III, of Bartlett, and Donna (Dennis) Foley, of Bloomingdale; grandchildren, Ryann, Will, and Sam Chioda, Paige, Robert, and Mia Renkosik, Tyler and Vincent Meziere and Kelly Foley; brothers and sisters, Tom (Jill) Doherty, of DeKalb, Mary Beth (Candace Herbert) Doherty, of Ettrick, Wis., Elaine (Jeffrey) Latimer, of DeKalb, and John Doherty, of DeKalb, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Philip and Phyllis.
Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, April 3, at 10:30 a.m. at Christ the Teacher Parish, 512 Normal Road, in DeKalb, with Father Matthew Camaioni of Christ the Teacher Parish officiating and Deacon Dino Franch of Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Wood Dale, Ill., assisting. Cremation will take place after the services at Finch Crematory.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 2, from 3 to 9 p.m. at Christ the Teacher Parish with a wake service at 8:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the family to be established at a later date.
