DeKALB – Terrance Allen Olin, 62, of DeKalb, Ill., passed away Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012, at his home.|
Born Sept. 23, 1950, in DeKalb, the son of Roy A. and Patricia (Liikala) Olin, he was a 1969 graduate of DeKalb High School. He served his country as a petty officer in the U.S. Navy. He worked at Northern Illinois University for the past 23 years, serving as a LAN specialist for the College of Engineering.
Terry was a devoted member of the Tebala Shriners of Rockford; a Mason for 15 years; American Legion; and Elks of Sycamore, Lodge 1392, for 20 years. He also did charitable work for the Leukodystrophy Foundation.
He is survived by his mother, Patricia Liikala Olin Francis of Rockford; brother, Michael Olin of Hampton, Va.; sisters, Kristine Finnegan of Virginia Beach, Va., and Cathy Sarver of Roscoe; 14 nieces and nephews and their families.
He was preceded in death by his father.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, at Anderson Funeral Home, DeKalb, with the Rev. Blake Richter of Westminster Presbyterian, DeKalb, officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Park Cemetery, DeKalb, with a graveside Masonic service. Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday at Anderson Funeral Home, DeKalb.
