KIRKLAND – Violet P. Nicholson, 90, of Kirkland, Ill., died at 3 a.m. Monday, May 13, 2013 in her home, surrounded by her loving family.|
She was born Nov. 17, 1922, in Melvin, to Ollie and Dora (Farley) Atkins. Violet married William T. Nicholson on Aug. 12, 1939, in Clinton, Iowa.
She is survived by four daughters, Judith Diss of Kirkland, Mary Davis of Kirkland, Janet (Robert) Harbolt of Rockford and Kathleen (Michael) Clay of Kirkland; two sons, William R. Nicholson of Kirkland and John (Cynthia) Nicholson of DeKalb; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and several siblings.
Violet enjoyed cooking, reading, crocheting and most of all, being with her family.
It was Violet's wishes that there be no public visitation or funeral. A private family memorial in Violet's honor will take place at a later date.
