Virgene "Jean" Christensen, 86, of DeKalb, Illinois, died Tuesday, June 12, 2018, at DeKalb County Rehab & Nursing Center.

She was born July 7, 1931, in Genoa, Illinois, the daughter of Rudolph and Allie Mae (Lloyd) Cullison. Jean married Robert "Chris" Christensen on March 17, 1962, in DeKalb.

Jean was employed by the DeKalb Ag celebrating 30 years in 1985, and retiring from DeKalb Swine Breeders Inc. in 1986. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church and belonged to the Altar Guild, Naomi Circle, Funeral Lunch Committee and project group. Jean and Chris were involved in arts and crafts and enjoyed their friendship with the Clark family.

She is survived by her brothers, Eldon (Janet) Cullison of Maple Park and David (Luann) Cullison of Sycamore; many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, step-nephew, Jordan Grubbs; and many good friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; her parents; brothers, Robert, Harold and Raymond; and her sisters, Betty and Olive.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 16, 2018, at Anderson Funeral Home in DeKalb, with the Rev. Dr. Janet Hunt of First Lutheran Church in DeKalb officiating. Burial will follow at Malta Cemetery in Malta. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of services, Saturday, June 16, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Virgene Christensen Memorial Fund, addressed to the Christensen Family in care of Anderson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 605, 2011 South Fourth Street, DeKalb, IL 60115.
