Died: August 26, 2018; in Champaign, IL

William R. Lantz, 76, of Champaign, formerly of Sycamore, IL, died Sunday, August 26, 2018 peacefully at his home.

Born in Chicago on February 3, 1942 and grew up in Libertyville, IL. He was the son of Roy and Elvira (Steinert) Lantz. He was married to Carlin Sanders in 1962. William graduated High School in 1960 and went on to Bradley University - Bennet College of Architectural Technology, ultimately graduating from Caterpillar Metallurgy and Foundry Management Program. Sales was in his blood and he spent the next 45 years in various Food Industries and started his own company. "Everyone Has to Eat". He will be remembered for his love, kindness, and tireless work for others. His unconditional love, time, and talents will be greatly missed. For him, it was all about the kids, His own, everyone's. He was very active in his Church and Kiwanis as well as a member of the Masonic Temple.

He was a wonderful father to Gregory (Lilly) Lantz, Jennifer (Steven) Mulcahey, Nathaniel (Jessica) Lantz and Charles (Dana) Lantz; and dear grandfather to Meredith (Vitor), Caroline, Mary-Kate, Sean, Aidan, Christian, Henry, Elsie, Anna, Ayla and Kira.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Lois King.

His visitation will be Wednesday, August 29th from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Butala Funeral Home and Crematory, 1405 DeKalb Ave., Sycamore, IL with a Masonic Service being conducted at 6:45 PM. A Celebration of Life will be on Thursday, August 30th at 11:00 AM at the United Methodist Church, 160 Johnson Ave., Sycamore, IL 60178 with Rev. Daniel Swinson officiating. A luncheon will follow the service at the Church. A private burial will be on Friday at the Montrose Cemetery in Chicago.
