SYCAMORE – Margaret Ailene Mason, 87, of Sycamore, Ill., died Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014, at Kishwaukee Hospital, DeKalb.|
Born Dec. 19, 1926, in Hampshire, the daughter of Robert Lee and Margaret Logan (Byers) Venable, Margaret married Earnest Milton "Bill" Mason on Sept. 16, 1945, in Blaine.
Margaret worked as a clerk at Henderson's Department Store in Sycamore and Eagle Food Store in DeKalb. She was a member of First Baptist Church of DeKalb for more than 50 years and was active in many church activities.
She is survived by her husband, Bill; sons, Rob (Debra) Mason of Hinckley and Steve (Beverly) Mason of Villages, Fla.; grandchildren, Barbara McNelis, Timothy Mason, Jason Beckmann, Erin Beckmann, Corinne Mason and Holly Mason; great-grandchildren, Johnny and Sarah McNelis and Addilyn Mason; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Linda Beckmann; son, James Mason; sister, Charlotte (George) Riggs; and brothers, Philip (Lora) Venable and Robert (Vergie) Venable.
The memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 17, at First Baptist Church, 349 S. Third St., DeKalb, with the Rev. Bob Edwards officiating. Burial of cremated remains will be at a later date at Fairview Park Cemetery, DeKalb. Cremation is by Anderson Funeral Home Crematory.
