1920 - 2014 Obituary Condolences
WATERMAN – Marie Anna Quarnstrom, 94, of Waterman, Ill., passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2014, at DeKalb County Rehab & Nursing Center in DeKalb.
Born Jan. 7, 1920, in DeKalb, the daughter of Edward and Mabel (Francen) Mattson, Marie was united in marriage to Kenneth Harvey Quarnstom on Nov. 1, 1942, in Waterman and they spent 62 happy years together.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt who will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Marie was a member, for more than 60 years, of the United Methodist Church of Waterman.
Marie Anna is survived by her son, Gary L. Quarnstrom of Grays Lake; daughter, Jean A. Shields of Cary, N.C.; two grandchildren, Chris (Stacey) Shields and Theresa Shields; two great-grandchildren, Abbey and Alyssa Shields; sister, Shirley (Bobby) Kyler; brother, Don (Emagene) Mattson; extended family, Velma Nix, Sharon (Kevin) Berg and girls; as well as several nieces, nephews and many good friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth Harvey Quarnstrom; two sisters; and son-in-law, Thomas Shields.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 22, 2014, at Nash-Nelson Funeral Home, 1001 E. Garfield St., in Waterman, with Pastor Paul Lee, officiating. Interment will follow at North Clinton Cemetery in Waterman. Friends may visit from 10 a.m. Saturday, March 22, until the hour of service at the funeral home.
