1926 - 2014 Obituary Condolences
DeKALB – Max A. Seisser III, 88, of DeKalb, Ill., formerly of Genoa, died Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at Kishwaukee Hospital, DeKalb.
Born March 30, 1926, in Elgin, the son of Max A. and Ida M. (Hixs) Seisser II, he married Edna L. Leonard on Sept. 2, 1950, in Kingston.
Max was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy. He worked as an accountant for GTE/Automatic in Genoa, retiring after 44 years of service. Max loved his family and being outdoors gardening.
Survivors include his three children, John (Ann) Seisser of Genoa, Cindy (Steve) Coelyn of Spring Hill, Fla., and Suzanne (Chris) Hawkins of Rockford; daughter-in-law, Vicki Seisser of Genoa; seven grandchildren, Melissa Gates, John Seisser, Sarah (Richard) Joos, Cassie Hawkins, Conner Hawkins, Katie Seisser and Max Seisser V; four great-grandchildren, William Gates, Tripp Seisser, Jaxson Seisser and Ryleigh Joos; one sister, Pat Eide of Washington, Ill.; and one niece, Sherry (Garry) Guimond.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna in 2008, and one son, Max A. Seisser IV, in 2002.
His visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 25, at Slater-Butala Funeral Home in Genoa. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 26, at the funeral home, with the Rev. James P. Freund officiating. A luncheon will follow at Crosswinds Community Church in Genoa. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, April 28, at Genoa Cemetery, with full military honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Crosswinds Community Church, in care of Slater-Butala Funeral Home, 132 W. Main St., Genoa, IL 60135.
