1929 - 2014 Obituary Condolences
DeKALB – Ronald Arthur "Red" Jackson Jr., 85, of DeKalb, Ill., died Thursday, April 24, 2014, at home on his farm.
Born Feb. 10, 1929, in Sycamore, the son of Ronald Arthur Jackson Sr. and Mary Irene (French) Jackson, Red married Donna M. "Peg" Wisted on April 5, 1952, at Trinity Lutheran Church, DeKalb, where he was a member.
Red was a lifetime DeKalb-area farmer and owner of Jackson Trucking Co. He was a member of DeKalb County Farm Bureau. A lifetime supporter of FFA, Red received, in 1947, the first DeKalb County Ag Accomplishment Award presented by DeKalb Ag; in 2007, he was awarded the 60th Anniversary Ag Accomplishment Award.
He is survived by his daughter, Sherrie (Randy) Bourdages of DeKalb; his grandson, Ryan, and granddaughter, Katelyn Bourdages; sisters, Virginia Burnett of DeKalb, Arlene (Mel) Dorland of Sycamore, Nancy (Gene) Miller of Sycamore and Helen (Dave) Meadowcraft of DeKalb; many nieces and nephews; his loyal right-hand man, Steve Hilleson; and his caregivers, Laura, Pat, Colleen and several others.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna; parents; and infant son, Ronnie Lee Jackson.
The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 28, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 303 S. Seventh St., DeKalb, with Lance Gackowski officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Park Cemetery, DeKalb. The visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, April 27, at Anderson Funeral Home, DeKalb.
