DeKALB – Marian Caroline Cowan, 89, of DeKalb, Ill., died Sunday, April 27, 2014, at Kishwaukee Hospital, DeKalb.|
Born March 3, 1925, in DeKalb, the daughter of Fred and Elna C. (Peterson) Nelson, Marian married Paul Leslie Cowan on Nov. 1, 1947, at First Lutheran Church, DeKalb, where she was an active and faithful member, serving on the Altar Guild and Funeral Service Committee.
She lived most of her life on North Seventh Street.
She is survived by her children, Nancy (Tom) Pugh and Carol Kasner, both of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; grandsons, Benjamin (Penelope) Pugh, Jonathan (Danielle) Pugh and Andrew Kasner; great-grandchildren, Nathan, Nick, Emelia, Natalie, Erica and Makenzie; several nieces and nephews; and brother-in-law, Dean Burgemeister of DeKalb.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul; parents; and sister, Betty Burgemeister.
The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, May 1, at First Lutheran Church, 324 N. Third St., DeKalb, with the Rev. Dr. Janet Hunt officiating. Cremation will follow, with burial of cremated remains on a later date at Fairview Park Cemetery, DeKalb.
