DeKALB – Richard E. "Daddio" Dailey, 81, of DeKalb, Illinois, passed away Sunday, May 25, 2014, at Kishwaukee Hospital in DeKalb. |
Born Feb. 18, 1933, in Logansport, Indiana, to William and Goldie Dailey, the ninth of ten children, Dick attended Northern Illinois University and served in the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Division.
He is survived by his wife, Patti, of 46 years; sister, Mary Ellen Miller of Upland, California; children, Cindy Dailey Askew of Seattle, Debra (Ken) Thompson of Rockford, Michael (Diane) Calbow of DeKalb and Vanessa (Curtis) Pardridge of DeKalb; grandchildren, Heather Dailey, Sara Kazmar, Marcelle Askew, Katie Colbert, Cameron and Chris Calbow and Abby and Dane Pardridge; and great-grandchildren, Tommy and Leo Kazmar and Chase Logan.
Daddio was preceded in death by his parents; eight siblings; and his loving daughter, Michelle.
A memorial Mass will be at 3 p.m. Friday, May 30, at Newman Catholic Student Center, 512 Normal Road, DeKalb, with the Rev. Matthew McMorrow celebrating. A military service will take place after Mass by DeKalb's American Legion, VFW and AmVets. Cremation will take place at Finch Crematory.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family to be established at a later date.
