Robert T. Woodruff Jr., 84, of DeKalb, Illinois, died Sunday, May 18, 2014, at DeKalb County Rehab & Nursing Center, DeKalb.|
Born Jan. 26, 1930, in Reynoldsburg, Ohio, the son of Robert Theodore and Sarah Genevieve (Irey) Woodruff, Robert married Marylin Anne Helmers on Nov. 24, 1956, in Lisbon, North Dakota.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. Robert was a graduate of Taylor University and received his master's degree from the University of North Dakota State. He was a member of the Evangelical Free Church of Sycamore-DeKalb and Gideons International. Robert retired from Morton International in 1995.
He is survived by his wife, Marylin; children, Philip (Ruth) Woodruff, Timothy Woodruff, Julie (James) Lang, Daniel (Linda) Woodruff and Joan (Rich) Owens; 17 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Friday, June 6, at Evangelical Free Church of Sycamore-DeKalb, 150 Bethany Road, DeKalb, with the Rev. Martin Jones officiating and full military honors by DeKalb American Legion, AmVets and VFW Honor Guard.
Burial of cremated remains will be at a later date at Afton Township Cemetery, DeKalb. Cremation is by Anderson Funeral Home Crematory.
