GENOA – Stanley L. Klaiss, Sr., 76, of Genoa, Illinois, drew his final breath in the early morning of June 8, 2014. He left a legacy of a truly wonderful life. Each person who had the privilege of walking beside him, however briefly, was better for having done so.|
Stan was born on the Fourth of July, 1938, in Kankakee, Illinois, the sixth child of Lester and Geneva (Eldred) Klaiss.
After graduating from Kankakee High and briefly attending Eureka College, Stan began a rewarding 35-year career as a computer systems analyst for Northern Illinois Gas Co. While caring for his young family, he earned his bachelor's degree in accounting from Northern Illinois University. Twenty wonderful years of retirement brought a wealth of enjoyment giving Stan time at home with his loving family, traveling, bicycling, woodworking, fishing and watching the Cubbies.
Stan is survived by his loving sweetheart and wife of nearly 55 years, Ruthann Stansbury Klaiss. They were blessed with two children; daughter, Kimberlee (Mark) Aug; and son, Stanley Lee Jr., who passed away in 2008.
He was blessed with five lovely grandchildren, Jessica (Jed) McClure, Alanna (Mike) Lynch, Austin, Jolie and Christa Klaiss; five precious great-grandchildren, Cohen, Taggert, Reece, Hudsyn and Gabriela; two loved brothers, Robert (Helen) Klaiss and Jack Klaiss; and two cherished brothers-in-law, James (Sharon) Stansbury and Greg (Debbie) Stansbury. His influence will live on through them all, and his generosity and love will extend to others as an organ donor.
A celebration of his life is planned from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 6, at Sycamore's Blumen Gardens.
Cremation Society of Illinois assisted the family. To extend condolences, visit www.Cremation-Society.com.
