MOUNT VERNON – Arthur Richard "Dick" Clark, 81, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, formerly of DeKalb, passed away peacefully Saturday, June 21, 2014, at home.
Born Sept. 8, 1932, in Dahlgren, Illinois, the son of Charles Amos and Eliza Evalee (Martin) Clark, Richard "Dick" married D. Joyce Harrison on March 18, 1956, in McLeansboro.
Dick was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during Korean Conflict. He was employed by Fourth Street Motors in DeKalb for more than 20 years, and later by University Volkswagen. Dick later owned DeKalb Standard Station before going on to own DeKalb Auto Service and Repair.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Joyce; children, Diana (Jerry) Moeller, Steve (Barb) Clark, Jerry Clark, Bryon (Marcia) Clark, Pam (Scott) Bastian and Donna (Craig) Donnelly; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; siblings, Maxine Brake, Nadine (Gene) Tucker, Alma (Jim) Lowery and Phyllis (Tom) Hollingsworth; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 25, at Anderson Funeral Home, DeKalb, with the Rev. Robert Vaughn of Malta Congregational Church officiating. Burial will follow at Afton Township Cemetery, DeKalb, with full military honors by DeKalb American Legion, AmVets and VFW Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 24, at Anderson Funeral Home.
