When he became ill, Sister cared for him for many years until his death in 2006, whereupon she retired to Campbellsport, Wisconsin. In 2013 she moved to Villa St. Francis in Milwaukee.

Sister Marianne was a generous and dedicated teacher and musician, and shared her gifts with all. Many were touched by her kindness, enthusiasm, and sense of humor.
