DeKALB – Marion M. Johnson, 94, of DeKalb, Illinois, died Saturday July 19, 2014, at Kishwaukee Hospital, DeKalb.|
Marion was born Sept. 27, 1919, in Antigo, Wisconsin, the daughter of Joseph and Carrie E. (Swanson) Rettinger.
Marion was employed by The Coffee Cup Restaurant, Gene's Produce and Northern Illinois University until retirement. She also worked for her brother-in-law at Welcome Lanes.
She is survived by two sons, Robert (Peggy) Johnson of DeKalb, Jerome Johnson of Sycamore; three grandchildren, Chad (Kari) Johnson, Ryan Johnson, Tammy (Ken) Overton; and six great grandchildren, Trent, Chase, Gillian, Tegan, Samantha and Kenneth.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Grace (Maurice) Miller; and her longtime companion, Wayne "Pinky" Pinkston.
The funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, July 25, at Anderson Funeral Home, DeKalb. Burial will follow at Fairview Park Cemetery, DeKalb. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 24, at Anderson Funeral Home, DeKalb.
