Ervin Leroy Haeffner, 87, of Sycamore, IL, died Saturday, August 9, 2014, at Kishwaukee Hospital in DeKalb.

He was born September 1, 1926, in Eminence, MO, the son of Ervin John and Dorothy (Long) Haeffner. Ervin served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II. He married Wilma Louise Lee on January 2, 1947, in Eminence, MO.

He owned Haeffner's Mobil Station for many years and worked at several car dealerships as a mechanic and retired from Sycamore Township. He was a member of the Sycamore Oddfellows Lodge for many years. Ervin had an impact on many people and will continue to lead his family through their lives with his wisdom, love, and generosity toward all.

He is survived by: daughters Sandra (Jakob) Schleiss of Streamwood, and twin daughters, Judy (Al) Contreras of Rockford and Janice (James) Cobb of Sycamore; sons, Larry (Patricia) Haeffner of Sycamore, Roger (Beth) Haeffner of Sycamore, and Timothy Haeffner of Summersville, Mo; siblings, Don Haeffner of Illinois, Ken Haeffner of Arizona, Verna Holbrook of Missouri; 17 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma; brother, Paul, and sister, Pauline.

He was a member of The Fundamental Bible Baptist Church in Summersville, MO.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August, 13, 2014, at First Baptist Church in Sycamore with the Rev. Stephen Persson officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Sycamore. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at Olson Funeral & Cremation Services, Ltd., Quiram Sycamore Chapel. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Sycamore.

A memorial fund has been established.
