Michael Nicholas Dorazio, 81, of DeKalb, Illinois, died Wednesday, August 13, 2014, at Aurora Rehab & Living Center, Aurora.
Born January 13, 1933, in Monroe, Michigan, the son of Laurence and Angella (Pillarelli) Dorazio, Mike married the love of his life, Karolynn Jean St. Bernard on February 11, 1956, in Monroe, Michigan.
Mike was a veteran of the US Army, having served in the First Infantry Division during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the VFW in Montgomery, the Honor Club at Cantigny in Wheaton, and American Legion in Yorkville, as well as the Moose in Batavia and Italian-American Club in Aurora.
He retired from Interstate Pallet in Aurora and had also worked at Armor Dial, Campana in Batavia and Arco Auto Carrier. Mike was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in North Aurora and was a former member of St. Mary Catholic Church in DeKalb and St. Rita of Cascia Catholic Church in Aurora. Mike was an ardent Detroit Lions fan.
He is survived by his children, Sheree A. (Dennis) Sroka of Sugar Grove, Kim (Chris) Cleven of Arlington Heights, Gerard (Linda) Dorazio of Sandwich and Michael C. Dorazio of Tucson, Arizona; grandchildren, Robert Sroka, and Kelli and Rachel Cleven; brothers, Larry (Dolores) Dorazio and Nick (Voulene) Dorazio, both of Monroe, Michigan; sisters, Maria Schoonover of Marion, Ohio, and Debbie (Jim) Nordstrom of Monroe, Michigan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Karolynn, in 2007; daughter, Sandra, in 1957; parents; brother, Victor; and brother-in-law, Dave Schoonover.
The funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, August 18, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 801 Oak Street, North Aurora, IL 60542, with the Rev. Max Lasrado celebrating. Burial will follow at River Hills Memorial Park, Batavia, with full military honors. Visitation will be from 9-10 a.m. Monday at the church.
