Joan C. Masters, 88, of Chicago, Illinois, formerly of DeKalb, passed away Sunday, August 24, 2014, at Manor Care in Rolling Meadows.
Born May 4, 1926, in DeKalb, the daughter of Charles H. and Margaret A. (McCabe) Corey, Joan was a 1942 graduate of DeKalb High School. Joan owned her own business services company, located in the Hancock Center in Chicago for 35 years, which allowed her to travel the world. She appeared in the Who's Who of American Women in Business. Joan was a member of Holy Name Cathedral in Chicago.
She is survived by her four children, Susan (Richard Hauger) Masters, John Hal Masters and Tom Masters, all of California, and Bill (Debbi) Masters of Arlington Heights; five grandchildren, Bill Jr., Ben, Ryan, Sarah and Jackson; and sisters, Charloette Boyle and Jean Carusi.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Helen; and brother, Charles "Bud".
Memorial services will take place at 1:00 p.m. Friday, August 29, at Anderson Funeral Home, 2011 South Fourth Street, DeKalb. Interment of cremated remains will follow services at Malta Cemetery. Visitation will take place one hour before services.
