GARY CALHOON Obituary
He was born Feb. 22, 1957, in Woodstock, Ill., the son of Wendell and Diane (Siebel) Calhoon. He enjoyed 25 years together with his wife, Janice.
Gary was the original owner of DeKalb Truck Center and later was the owner and operator of Handi-Van in San Diego, Calif., for 20 years. He was a member of the DeKalb Moose Club and track champion at Bob-Jo Speedway in Sycamore in 1979 and 1980.
He is survived by his wife, Janice Staley-Calhoon; son, Gary Aaron (Teresa) Calhoon of Marseilles, Ill.; two grandsons, Logan and Brandon Calhoon; daughter, Lynn Calhoon of San Diego, Calif.; brother, Rick Calhoon and family of Florida; and several aunts and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his paternal and maternal grandparents.
Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, at Anderson Funeral Home, 2011 S. Fourth St., DeKalb, with the Rev. Robert Vaughn officiating. Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, until the time of services at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment of cremated remains will take place at a later date at McHenry County Memorial Park in Woodstock.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gary Edward Calhoon Memorial Fund in care of Anderson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 605, DeKalb, IL 60115. For information, call 815-756-1022.

Rick, very sad to hear about your brother Gary. Since kids growing up together with both of you, your phone call to me when you were in town brought back many memories of gary, you, and I. I pray for your family, knowing this is a difficult time, but also knowing that God has a purpose for everything. Right now we may not know why, but someday our minds will be opened. Keep your faith no matter what and God will comfort you.

The memories I have for my dear friend will be with me always. What amazing young man and someone who inspired me with his life long obstacles. Gary was so blessed to have a wonderful woman, Janice, who stood by his side and the everyday challenges they faced. I have been very blessed to know them both. Janice know that I love you both and I am here, you are in my thoughts and prayers as you go through these difficult days.
