MOUNT HOREB, Wis. – Lucia Antoinette Morris, 76, was called to be with the Lord on Saturday, Sept 8, 2012.
She was born May 13, 1936, in Chicago, to Samuel and Emma (Muto) Mazzone.
Lucia grew up in Elmhurst, Ill., and graduated from York High School in 1954. She attended Bob Jones University in South Carolina. In 1957, she met Gary Morris, the love of her life, and they were united in marriage on Sept 13, 1958. They were longtime residents of Sycamore and Geneva, Ill. Lucia was a faithful member of the Lutheran Church, including St John's in Sycamore and St. Mark's in St. Charles. She was a member of the Altar Guild, Ladies Aid, Choir, LWL, O.W.L.S., Quilting Club, a dedicated teacher of Sunday school and vacation bible school, and served as secretary of LCFS.
She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt who enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Lucia cherished her grandchildren, and she had a special gift for leading God's children in songs, games and prayers. She was an excellent seamstress and child care provider for many years. Lucia was a very kind person who cared about others and enjoyed the fellowship of God's love. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew her and all the lives she touched. The family is grateful to the wonderful staff of Ingleside Manor in Mount Horeb for their kindness and care.
Lucia is survived by her husband, Gary; three children, Wayne (Nancy) of South Holland, Brad (Sherry) of Middleton, Wis., and Julia of Peoria; 10 grandchildren; two sisters, Anita (Larry) Thompson and Pamela (Reid) Smith; and many nieces, nephews, and brothers- and sisters in-law.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother.
Cremation will be accorded. Visitation will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in St. Charles, with a memorial service at 12:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to National MS Society, Greater Illinois Chapter, 525 W. Monroe St., Suite 900, Chicago, IL 60661.
