DeKALB – Ronald W. Rogers, 79, of DeKalb, Ill., died Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, at Pine Acres Rehab & Living Center, DeKalb.|
Born Jan. 12, 1933, in Barron, Wis., the son of Ronald M. and Joyce (Perusse) Rogers, Ron married Mildred "Jean" Olson on July 13, 1952, at the Presbyterian Church in Waterman.
Ronald was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean conflict, with 18 months overseas in the combat engineers in Germany. He operated Rogers Heating & Cooling Company for 38 years in DeKalb. Ron was a member of DeKalb Jaycees and DeKalb Lions Club.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jeanie; sons, Jerry (Pam) Rogers and Timmy (Vicki) Rogers, both of DeKalb; grandchildren, Heather (Matthew) Schiff, Jamie Rogers, Matthew (Crystal) Rogers, Kelli Rogers and Karlee Rogers; great-grandchildren, Madysen Schiff, Keegan Schiff, Jayden Rogers, Alanna Rogers, Aubrie Rogers and Blake Rogers; brother, Larry Rogers of Homosassa, Fla.; sisters, Connie (Jim) Taylor of DeKalb and Sally Coyle of Cortland.
He was preceded in death by his son, Larry Rogers, and his parents.
Upon his request, his body was donated to medical sciences.
The family thanks the staff and nurses at Kishwaukee Community Hospital and at Pine Acres Rehab & Living Center for their care of Ronald.
A celebration of life will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 23, at DeKalb Knights of Columbus, 1336 E. Lincoln Highway, DeKalb.
