SYCAMORE – Maxine R. Bailey, 55, of Sycamore, Ill., died Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2013, at Kishwaukee Hospital, DeKalb.|
Born July 29, 1958, in Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., the daughter of Charlie and Mary (Williams) Starks, she married Jimmy Lee Bailey on Aug. 1, 1987, at New Hope Missionary Church in DeKalb.
Maxine was the assistant director for housing and dining services at Northern Illinois University for 27 years. She was a member of the New Hope Missionary Church and served as a trustee. She was a Delta Sigma Theta Sorority sister.
Survivors include her husband, Jimmy Lee Bailey; two daughters, Deborah Bailey and Kenisha Bailey, all of Sycamore; one grandchild, Kenya Dent; parents, Charlie and Mary Starks of Wilmington, N.C.; three sisters, Karen Starks of Hoffman Estates, Michelle Starks of Wilmington and Deborah Starks of Forest Park; and numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Olivia Bailey.
Her funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31, at New Hope Missionary Church, 1201 Twombly Road, DeKalb, with the Rev. Leroy Mitchell officiating. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery. The visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
