Herbert D. Johnson, 77, of Tse' Da' Kaan, passed from this life on Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013 in Bloomfield. He was born July 4, 1935, in Tse' Da' Kaan. He was born to To' ahee dlii nii and born for Kinli chii' nii.
Herbert was a hardworking rancher and farmer who loved driving his tractor, but most of all he loved his family. He attended Sherman Indian School. He worked various jobs, including uranium mine, industrial services and is retired from B.I.A. Roads as a Civil Engineer/Technician.
Herbert is survived by his daughters, Sandra D. Johnson, of Shiprock and Sheilanne Johnson, of Tse' Da' Kaan' grandkids, Nikolette Johnson-Yazzie and her husband, Eric Yazzie, Stephanie N. Johnson and fiance, Dimitri Sanisya and Delwyn C. Johnson and companion, Cheyenne Howe, Danica K. Johnson and Siobhan B. Johnson and great-granddaughter, Haiden D. Sanisya; sister, Melinda Lee and family, of Tse' Da' Kaan.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Daisy M. Johnson; parents, Jim and Ada Johnson and his brothers, Johnny Johnson, Thomas C. Johnson and David C. Johnson Sr.
A funeral service will be 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 18, at Desert View Funeral Home Chapel, North U.S. Hwy. 491, in Shiprock.
Burial will follow in the Johnson Family Cemetery.
