Leon Blackie Obituary

Leon Blackie, 47, of Rock Springs, Wyo., died on Friday, June 21, 2013, at Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County after a sudden illness. He was born March 25, 1966, in San Juan County, the son of Joe Blackie and Betty Lopez Blackie. He attended schools in Green River. He worked for Halliburton as a pipefitter and fabricator welder. His interests were welding, horses, fishing, being a pitman for a racing team and spending time with his family.
Survivors include three brothers, Samuel and wife, Lorraine Blackie, Leonard Blackie, all of Rock Springs, Wyo. and Leroy Blackie, of New Mexico; sister, Jolene Blackie, of Rock Springs, Wyo.; nephews, Lucas and Joey Blackie, of Rock Springs, wyo.; nieces, Valerie and Mike Leisch, Vanessa and Dennis Ahenakew, Latonya, Jalisa, Rayelle Blackie and Felicia Baird, all of Rock Springs, Wyo.
Leon was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Betty Blackie; brother, Leander Blackie; sister, Joann rodriquez; grandparents, John and Helen Blackie and Arthur and Lucy Lopez.
A funeral service will be 10 a.m. on Friday, June 28, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Lybrook.
Burial will follow in the LDS Cemetery in Lybrook.
