Toney, LaRue B. - Farmington
LaRue B. Toney, 84, of Farmington, passed away on Thursday, June 16, 2016. LaRue was born Oct. 26, 1931 to Henry Wilson & Myrtle Taylor Dodson in Jacksonville, Fla. LaRue B. Toney graduated from high school in Jacksonville, Fla., married on Sept. 11, 1949 and then moved to Santa Fe. She worked as executive secretary to the base commander at Kirtland Air Force Base. She moved with her family to Farmington, in 1959, until her death on June 16, 2016. LaRue was Queen of Hearts of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity in 1953, and past President of Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority in Farmington. She was a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a great-grandmother, a great-great-grandmother, a daughter, and a sister. LaRue did everything in her life with love, beauty, honesty, and friendship. She was the person everyone wanted in their lives. LaRue was an avid gardener, homemaker, and member of her community and was the best role model anyone could ever have. To Remember Me 'Rue & Bill' "At a certain moment a doctor will determine that my brain has ceased to function and that, for all intents and purposes, my life has stopped. When that happens, do not attempt to instill artificial life into my body by the use of a machine. And don't call this my 'deathbed.' Call it my 'bed of life,' and let my body be taken from it to help others lead fuller lives. Give my sight to a man who has never seen a sunrise, a baby's face or love in the eyes of a woman. Give my heart to a person whose own heart has caused nothing but endless days of pain. Give my blood to the teen-ager who has been pulled from the wreckage of his car, so that he might live to see his grandchildren play. Give my kidneys to one who depends on a machine to exist from week to week. Take my bones every muscle, every fiber and nerve in my body and find a way to make a crippled child walk. Explore every corner of my brain. Take my cells, if necessary, and let them grow so that someday a speechless boy will shout at the crack of a bat and a deaf girl will hear the sound of rain against her windows. Burn what is left of me and scatter the ashes to the winds to help the flowers grow. If you must bury something, let it be my faults, my weaknesses and all prejudice against my fellowman. Give my soul to God. If by chance you wish to remember me, do it with a kind deed or word to someone who needs you. If you do all I have asked, I will live forever" - Robert N. Test LaRue was preceded in death by her husbands, WM Toney, Earl Wattenburger, and Bill Baggett; her parents, Henry W. and Myrtle Taylor Dodson; and her sister, Tess Dodson Murray. She is survived by her son, Tony W. Baggett, of Farmington; her daughters, Michelle Baggett Wells, of Aztec, Lynn Baggett Starcher, of Sparks, Nev.; her grandchildren, Randy W. Diamond, Danielle Pottratz, Misty Boone; her great-grandchildren Rhianna Diamond, Olivia Conrad, Austin Diamond, Whitney Boone, Wyatt Boone, Adam Baughman, Maya Pottratz, Christian Pottratz; her great-great grandchild, Isabelle Diamond Olds. No services are scheduled at this time. Memorials or donations may be made to Smile Train, 41 Madison Ave., 28th floor, New York, NY 10010. LaRue's care is entrusted to Brewer Lee & Larking Funeral Home 103 E. Ute Street in Farmington, 505-325-8688. For those who wish to leave condolences may do so at www.serenityandcompany.com
