Anthony James Allen, 28, of Shiprock, untimely answered the Lord's call of duty to serve in his almighty kingdom above, on Saturday, Aug. 2, 2014. He was born April 19,1986, in Shiprock. With his unfortunate sudden departure from this life, many have questions of why things happen the way they do. One thing is certain, we know that he often expressed his deep love, compassion and selflessness, and he will surely be missed.
Anthony proudly served his country enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps
after high school and achieved the rank of Lance Corporal upon his honorable discharge. His military service included two combat tours in Iraq earning honors and commendations. Service to his country meant a lot to him and made his family very proud. He continued his education taking classes at the local community colleges up to the time of his passing. He was a great father and enjoyed spending time with his son. Anthony loved the outdoors, fished and camped and included his son whenever he did. All those who spent time with them knew they were inseparable. His love for his son was unmatched.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Fred and Lilly Begay; brother Jonovan K. Allen; paternal grandparents John and Christine Allen, maternal aunt Lucy R. Charley; paternal aunts, Victoria Kaibetonney and Laverne Yonnie; maternal uncles, Fred Begay Jr. and Howard Begay; paternal uncles, Alfred Allen, Jonathan Allen and Joe Kaibetonney.
