Clif Sivil, a longtime resident of Farmington, died Saturday, April 12, 2014, at San Juan Regional Medical Center. Clif was born in Jewell Ridge, Va., to James Luther and Sofia Teresa (Landon) Sivil. Clif was preceded in death by his parents; sister Charlotte and brother Buddy.
He is survived by his wife Nancy and step-daughter Valerie Karl (Mike).
Clif graduated high school in Henryetta, Okla., attended University of Tulsa and graduated from Oklahoma University of Technology.
A resident of Farmington for over 50 years, Clif gained much knowledge and experience early in his career as an employee at Larry Brewer and Associates., and later established his own surveying business here. Gifted with a keen memory, Clif never forgot a friend or a funny story.
He was a life member of Farmington Elks Lodge
#1747 where he held various offices culminating in that of exalted ruler, 1972 - 1973. He took much pride in initiating some 250 new members during his tenure. Extremely talented, and a man of diverse interests, Clif enjoyed woodworking, stained glasswork and gardening, among many pastimes.
In 1979, he built his own cabin at Vallecito Lake, Colo., which he enjoyed for many years.
As a faithful member of Bethany Christian Church in Farmington, he served in several capacities including choir member, deacon, and elder. He was a member of his church "Romeo" - "Retired Old Men Eating Out," enjoying weekly breakfast meetings in various Farmington restaurants.
A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 19, at Bethany Christian Church, 711 E. 30th St. in Farmington, with Pastor Ursula Messano officiating.
