Eulita Mae Welch was born Oct. 21, 1920, in Beaver City, Okla. She died on Monday, May 5, 2014, in Hobbs. She married Donald Dean North, Sept. 22, 1937.
There were two daughters born to that marriage, Donna Marie North Nelson and Glenda Jean North Sheppard. She moved to Albuquerque after World War II, and her husband returned from the U.S. Navy in Dec. 23, 1945. Her husband passed away on March 30, 1967. She worked at Sandia National Labs in Albuquerque for 21 and a half years. While at Sandia Labs, she met and married Henry R. Welch. When they retired, they moved to Navajo Dam. They enjoyed lots of travel, fishing and community activities. She had many happy years of marriage to Henry. She lost both her daughters to cancer, Donna Nelson on July 23, 1997, and seven months later, Glenda Jean Sheppard died on Feb. 14, 1998.
Eulita had many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many great-great-grandchildren, two living sisters, Pauline Szalkowski of Fallon, Nev., and Marvel Culwell of Oklahoma City, Okla., and lots of loved nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 7, in Memory Gardens in Farmington. Services were under the direction of Chapel of Hope, 3321 N. Dal Paso St.
