Iona Mae Condit Bryant Ritchey, of Farmington, born June 14, 1916, to Watson E. Condit and Luella Porter in Hutchinson, Kan., went to be with her Heavenly Father on Friday, Sept. 27, 2013. After the passing of her mother at age 3, Iona moved to Albuquerque with her father, brother and sister. They lived with grandparents until her father remarried, and Iona had seven new brothers and sisters before she graduated high school. Iona worked at Woolworth until she married Edward Bryant. They had three daughters. They later divorced, and she worked as lead cake decorator and assistant manager at Jill's Bakery for 23 years. Iona retired and married RJ Ritchey, and they moved to Medford, Ore., where they were active in the Grange Hall, where she won many prizes for her baking, sewing and counted cross stitch.
Iona was preceded in death by her parents, Watson Condit and Luella Porter Condit; her brothers, Clifford, Raymond, and Ellsworth; and her sister, Evelyn Allen; along with both of Iona's husbands, Edward Bryant and RJ Ritchey.
She is survived by her daughters, Jean Taylor, Barbara (Bobbie) Horton, Susan Hart, Kathy Williams and Susan Denton; sons, Kenneth, Karol and Robert; her brothers, Leroy and Weldon; sisters, Maurine Miller, Peggy Lou Egan and Gail Toulouse; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Iona was a devoted Christian and was a leader and sponsor of the young people for many years. She will be dearly missed and never forgotten by all her family and friends.
A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5, at the First Baptist Church of Bloomfield, 200 W. Sycamore Ave.
