James W. Anderson, 79, of Farmington, passed away on Monday, Aug. 12, 2013, at the family home doing what he loved, taking care of the yard. He was born Sept. 28, 1933, in Seagraves, Texas, to Thelma and Adrian Anderson. The family later moved to Belen, where he lived until he enlisted in the U.S. Army
. When James returned home, he got a job with the phone company and started a lifelong career. James met and married Calene Shelhamer in Aztec, May 9, 1959. The family lived in Aztec until 1970 and then moved to Gallup. After seven years, they returned to Farmington and remained until his passing. James leaves behind one sister, Lynn Derr of Belen; sister-in-law, Dorothy Anderson; two daughters, Starla (Kelly) Thompson and Darla (Roy) Johnson; four grandchildren, Falynn Burns, Amanda (Rob) Bradshaw, Brittany Burns and Chad Burns. Also left behind are two great-grandchildren, Easten Gibbs and Scarlett Burns, along with many nieces and nephews.
James was preceded in death by his wife, Calene; parents; brother, Buddy; and sister, Vonne.
There will be a private family celebration at a later date.
