Joe Albert Armenta, 70, of Bloomfield, passed away May 11, 2014, in Farmington. He was born on May 11, 1944, in Summit Ridge, Colo., to Faustin Armenta and Rose (Espinoza) Armenta. Joe attended and graduated from Bloomfield High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy
and served from 1961-1965. Joe was a member of the Knights of Columbus for over 30 years earning a 4th degree title. He married Wilma "Chubby" Davis on May 15, 1967. Joe loved to go camping, fishing, hunting and shooting. However, spending time with family and loved ones was his absolute favorite pastime! He had many friends and loved to chat and visit. Kids loved him. They were attracted to him like a magnet when he was around.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Richard Armenta.
He is survived by his wife, Wilma "Chubby" Armenta; daughters, Tammie Payne (Lynn), Nicole McGlasson (Maverick); brothers, Bennie Armenta (Marla), Sam Armenta (Nina), Jerry Armenta and Robert Armenta (Glenna); sisters, Mary Burnham (Keith), Inez Edge (Dennis), Elsie Maestas (Ron), Gloria McFall (George); grandchildren, Kayla Polk, Harlee Hogue and Gabriel "Bubba" Polk along with many cherished nieces and nephews.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 13, 2014, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bloomfield and the Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 14, also at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with Father Bob Mathieu as celebrant. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery, 6917 E. Main St., in Farmington.
Pallbearers are his nephews, Aubrey Edge, Bruce Armenta, Eric Burnham, TJ Burnham, Rick Candelario, Jonas Armenta, Sammy Armenta and Brian Davenport.
