Jose T. "Josecito" Lucero, 81, of Bloomfield, passed away peacefully on Friday, Sept. 13, 2013. He was born in Lumberton, July 13, 1932, to Antonio Jose Lucero and Carlota Atencio Lucero.
He lived most of his life in Lumberton and attended New Mexico School for the Blind in Alamogordo.
Josecito was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Carlota Lucero; brother, Bellarmino Lucero; sister, Margarita Alcon; brother-in-laws, Albert Alcon and Julian Montoya.
He is survived by his sister, Eliza Montoya; brother; Gilbert Lucero; his wife, Mary; sister; Alice Valdez and her husband, Alex; and by numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
The family would like to thank Dr. Edward Kompare and the entire staff at Bloomfield Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their loving care.
A rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 18, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Lumberton.
Father Benjamin Onwumelu will celebrate the Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 19, at St. Francis Catholic Church.
Interment to follow in St. Francis Cemetery in Lumberton.
