Joyce Jaylene Johnson, 67, of Farmington passed into the light on Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012. She was born April 11, 1945, in Logansport, Ind., to Truman and Reba Spitler.
She attended Delphi High School in Delphi, Ind. Joyce met her late husband David, in high school and were married 45 years, until his death. Joyce performed in choir and played piano in the top twenty in high school.
Joyce and David began their first years of marriage in Fort Rucker, Ala. and New Orleans, La. For 15 years, the resided in their hometown of Delphi, Ind. In 1991, they relocated to Farmington where they later were joined by their two children David (DJ) and Candice.
She worked for San Juan Regional Medical Center for 16 years in the billing department.
Joyce had the knack for making others feel they were special. So many people would find comfort in her presence and she touched many lives through her patience and understanding.
She is survived by her two children, David C. Johnson and Candice J. Watkins; son-in-law, Michael Watkins; two sisters, Connie Hoffman and Susie Hathaway; one brother, Phil Spitler and her beloved three grandchildren, Bailey, Esmerelda and Damiana. Her grandchildren were the love of her life.
The family would like to thank Michelle Ketelhut, Dr. Jeff Neidhart and all of the wonderful people at San Juan Oncology, Ariadna Bessinger M.D. Patti Moran and everyone at Basin Home Health; Bill Caswell and family, Carol Baisch, Susie Coghill, Sheila Herrera and the many caring individuals who have touched our lives throughout her long battle with myelofibrosis.
A funeral service for Joyce will be 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at Alternative Choice Chapel, 804 N. Dustin Ave., in Farmington with Pastor Steve Carrington officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, 1606 N. Dustin Ave. in Farmington.
