Karen Kay Mason, 53, of Shiprock, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014, in Shiprock. She was born Jan. 8, 1961, in Shiprock, to Mary and Wilbert Junes Sr. She was born to Tachinni and was born for Hanaahaahni.
Karen always greeted everyone she knew with a big smile. She was a great woman with a heart of gold. She took care of everyone she knew. Karen cherished her grandchildren. She touched so many hearts and we all have wonderful memories of her at different times of her life.
Karen set a great example as a mother for her child. She was a loving grandmother who always gave into their wants.
Karen was an awesome auntie, sister, mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
Karen was preceded in death by her sons, Sonny Mason and Bryan Mason; her parents; and grandparents, Wendell and Amy Reid.
She is survived by her daughter, Kayla Mary Begay; brothers, Wilbert Junes Jr., Perry Junes and Delvin Junes' sisters, Darlene Tsinnie and Daryl Joe; and grandchildren, Luke Begay, Daniko Begay and MacKynzie Begay.
A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 14, at Cope Memorial Chapel of Kirtland, with Craig Mull officiating.
Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, 1606 N. Dustin Ave. in Farmington.
A reception will follow at the International Union Hall of Operating Engineers , Local 953, in Kirtland.
Pallbearers are Justin Reid, Tyrone Reid, AJ Reid, Arcadio Flores, Derrel Stevens and Tommy Reed.
