Michael F. "Mike" Hamilton was called back to heaven on Tuesday, July 29, 2014, in Albuquerque. Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Hamilton and Frances (Hamilton) Campbell and brother James.
Mike is survived by his loving wife of 47 years Kathy, sons Michael "Buck" and Allen "Keith" (wife Kelly). Also surviving are grandchildren Sandra, Justin, Colten, MaKayla, Kristen and Brianna. Two great grandchildren, Moriah and Caleb also survive.
Mike was born July 6, 1944, in Carlsbad. He attended Carlsbad schools and graduated from CHS in 1962. He went on to attend New Mexico State University. In 1965, he met Kathy Floyd they were married in 1967. In 1968, his first son "Buck" was born. Around 1970, Mike and his family relocated to Silver City. His second son Keith was born in 1971. In 1982, Mike and his family moved to Kirtland and he went to work for Public Service Company of New Mexico. He worked there until his health forced him to retire in 2000.
Mike enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed his antique tractor collection and four wheeling with the family.
A viewing will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 6, at Cope Memorial Chapel in Kirtland. A celebration of his life will be at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 7, at the First Baptist Church in Kirtland. He will be laid to rest at the Kirtland-Fruitland Cemetery.
