Raymond E. DeHerrera, 69, passed away at his home on Monday, Dec. 16, 2013. He was born Nov. 9, 1944, in Bloomfield, to Marcelino and Eleanor Saiz- DeHerrera.
Raymond is survived by his wife, Dorothy DeHerrera. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in February of this year. He married Dorothy S. Martinez Feb. 23, 1963, in Bloomfield. He is also survived by his five children; two daughters; Deadra (James) Torrez and Yvonne Martinez (Nick Martin) and three sons, Leon DeHerrera, Marty (Nicole) DeHerrera and Tony DeHerrera (Nicole Montoya), all of Bloomfield. His children gave him 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Raymond was a devoted and loving husband, father, brother and friend. He spent 35 years working as a professional fabricator/welder and avid farmer and in turn, he passed his craft to his sons and grandsons. Raymond always said that his greatest joy in life was spending time with his family.
A rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 18, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bloomfield.
A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 19, at St. Mary's in Bloomfield, with Fr. Bob Mattheiu as celebrant.
Pallbearers are Frankie Carrillo Jr., Abelardo Ruben Garcia, Anthony DeHerrera, Andrew DeHerrera, Austin DeHerrera, and Michael DeHerrera.
Honorary Pallbearers are Isaac Anaya, Joey Anaya, Cameron Carrillo, Marcus Carrillo, Cassius Vigil, Kaden Vigil, Thomas Vigil Jr., Matthias Ewing, Markus Ewing, Elias Johnson, Anthony Jacques Jr. and Davian Trejo.
