Rudy Ferrari Obituary

Rudy "Buddy" Ferrari, 80, of Bloomfield, passed away at his home on Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014. Buddy was born in Bloomfield, Dec. 4, 1933, to parents Rudy and Albina Ferrari (Sategna).
Buddy graduated from Aztec High School in 1952. He married his sweetheart, Judy Jones, on Nov. 12, 1960. For 35 years, he worked for El Paso Natural Gas Company, and, in 1993, he co-founded Ferrari Gas Measurement with his brother, Derald, where he continued to work while maintaining his farm.
As a prominent member of the Bloomfield community for all of his 80 years, Buddy was well known and well regarded. He was an outdoorsman, a laborer, a farmer, a business owner, a rancher, a gentleman, a husband, a father, a grandfather and a great-grandfather. He was a real-life cowboy through and through. Buddy's life was in his labor, and his loves were his family, friends and the outdoors. He had a passion for hunting and fishing and trips to the mountains on horseback. He enjoyed the sunrise and sunset, and the hours between he could be found working on his ranch. His integrity and courage were an inspiration to his family, and he will be deeply missed.
Buddy was preceded in death by his father, Rudy Ferrari; his mother, Albina Ferrari; his brother, Derald Ferrari; and sisters, Anita Crane and Evelyn Wimsatt.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Ferrari; sons, Brian Ferrari and Lainie Slavey, of Bloomfield, Lance Ferrari and wife, Pat, of El Paso, Texas, and Dennis Ferrari and wife, Melanie, of Farmington; grandchildren, Nicoll Ferrari, Sheena Ferrari and Reggie Powell, Clarissa Curry, Cara and Shane Lewis, Justin Ferrari, Chance Slavey, Alyssa Ferrari, Justin Slavey, Aaron Ferrari, and Devin Ferrari; and great-grandchildren, Darious Powell, Devante Powell, Izayiah Powell, Nevaeh Jewell, Noah Lewis and Paige Lewis. In addition, his remaining kin includes numerous nieces, nephews and other cherished family and friends.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 22, at the Ferrari Farm, 301 Ferrari Ranch Road in Bloomfield. Friends and relatives are welcome to attend.
Buddy's care is entrusted to Alternative Choice, 804 N. Dustin Ave. in Farmington, 505-325-9611. Those who wish to express their condolences may do so at www.serenityandcompany.com.
