Ulysses Sherman "Bart" Bartmess(1927 - 2013)

Ulysses "Bart" Sherman Bartmess III, 85, a beloved father and devoted husband, lost his 7 month long battle with cancer on Monday, June 10, 2013, at his home in Kirtland. He was born July 15, 1927, in Madera, Calif.
Bart as he was known by his friends and family has lived in the Four Corners area since 1967. He transferred to this area from California with Fairchild-Semi Conductor which was located in Shiprock. And fell in love with this area and its people. He was a very successful businessman with an outstanding work ethic, well known for Aztec Design Co. in Farmington and Bart's Small Engine Repair in Kirtland. He will be missed.
He was a World War II Navy Veteran and had a great love for his country.
Bart had a life-long compassion for dancing and fishing. He was a lifetime member of Farmington Elks Lodge 1747 and could always be found on the dance floor Friday and Saturday nights. He danced his last dance at the Veteran's celebration on Nov. 10, 2012 and caught his last fish at Cottonwood Campground in Sept. 2012.
He is survived by many family members and close friends who are truly blessed to have been part of his life.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to his neighbors and friends who were so kind and supportive during his last months and to Basin Home Health for their care and compassion.
A memorial service for family and friends will be 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 22, at his home in Kirtland.
In place of flowers, we ask that a donation be made to cancer research in his name.
For 64 years he has been my rock and on June 10, it shattered and I was left with a huge hole in my heart.
I love you, Daddy, always have, always will.
