Dora P. Valdez

Dora P. Valdez, 69, of Bloomfield, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 7, 2011, in Farmington. She was born Sept. 19, 1941, in Gobernador, to Jose Emilio and Rafelita Garcia.
Dora was a very giving and caring person who loved all and was loved by many. She especially loved her grandchildren, James, Gabriel and Victoria Valdez, J. Emilio Valdez, Keith and Chris Archuleta, Daniela and Amanda Gonzalez-Torres, Brittany McDaniel and Tyrell Sinclair. She also had numerous godchildren.
Dora was preceded in death by her husband, Roy N. Valdez Sr.; her parents; her brothers, Pres Garcia, Marvin Garcia and Emilio Garcia Jr.; and a sister, Della Armenta.
She is survived by her son, Roy N. Valdez Jr. (Rhonda McDaniel); daughters, Berlynda (Nibardo) Gonzalez-Torres, Vivian Valdez, Monica C. (Jerry) Archuleta; brothers, Andy Garcia and Melvin Garcia; sisters, Angeline Anaya, Inez Reed, Viola Bond, Nieves Martinez, Connie Garcia and Patricia Selph; and 10 grandchildren.
Visitation for Dora will be at 6 p.m. today, Aug. 10, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 2100 E. 20th St. in Farmington. The rosary will be at 7 p.m., after the visitation.
The Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 11, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with Father Michael Vigil as celebrant.
A reception will be held following the Mass, at the Parish Center.
Interment will follow the reception, at the Santo Niño Cemetery in Gobernador.
Pallbearers are Roy Valdez Jr., Nibardo Gonzalez-Torres, Jerry Archuleta, Keith Archuleta, Chris Archuleta, Emilio Valdez, James Valdez and Tyrell Sinclair.
Honorary pallbearers are Andy Garcia, Daryl Selph, James Armenta, Michael Phillips, Shawn Torres and Cheryl Selph.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, D.C. 20090, or to Our Lady of the Desert Monastery in Gobernador, http://www.ourladyofthedesert.org.
