Commie R. Britton, 72, of Apache, Okla., was born April 20, 1941, in Carnegie, Okla., to Robert and Ethel (Hewes) Britton. He passed away Oct. 21, 2013, in Oklahoma City, Okla.
While in high school, Commie moved to New Mexico with his parents. After graduation, he entered the military and served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. After his service, he returned to New Mexico and attended barber school. He worked as a barber, as well as a truck driver and a roughneck before moving back to Oklahoma. He was also a member of the VFW.
Commie is survived by step-sons, Mark Mattingly of Anchorage, Alaska, and Steven Mattingly of Odessa, Texas; sister, Sylvia Domme of Bloomfield; nephews, Mike Jones, Joey Jones and Rob Britton; and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, James Britton; and nephew, Pat Jones.
A graveside memorial service was at 10 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 4, in Fort Sills National Cemetery. Military honors were provided. His brother, James "Jimmy" Douglas Britton, was inurned at the same time. He passed away May 27, 2013, in Farmington.
Inurnment was under the direction of Crews Funeral Home in Apache, Okla.
