Don R. Parker, 87, longtime resident of El Paso, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, July 10, 2013. Mr. Parker was born in Winchester, Ind., Feb. 11, 1926.

He served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II and later attended Purdue University. He also lived in Farmington, where he met his wife of 56 years, Helyn Sue McMurtry. They moved to El Paso in 1967. He worked with the El Paso Natural Gas Company for 35 years. Don was a member of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity at Purdue University, a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason, and El Maida Shriner.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Alpha and Inzie Parker; his infant daughter, Susan Jean Parker; his siblings, Dick Parker, Dorothy Holdeman, Frances Keys and Marilyn Turner.
Mr. Parker is survived by his wife, Helyn Sue Parker; his children, Donna Branum (Brent) and Robert Parker (Stacey); his grandchildren, Samantha Parker, James Parker, and Dylan Branum and step-grandchildren, Todd Branum, Derrick Branum and Leah Branum; his brother, David Parker (Lucy).

A memorial service will take be 3 to 6 p.m. on Monday, July 15, at Hillcrest Funeral Home, 1060 Carolina Drive in El Paso, Texas.
Graveside service will be held at a later date.
