Jay Newt Gordon passed to his maker, Friday, March 21, 2014. Jay Gordon was born Feb. 27, 19l8, in La Junta, Colo.
Jay was preceded in death by his father and mother, Joe W. and Eva P. Gordon; brother, John Robert; sisters, Clara Ruth Geer and Helen Jo Bandy; wife Lilabell Gordon; and ex-wife, Annabelle J. Gordon.
He is survived by his sister; Edith Ann Galle of Farmington; sons, Timithy and Kennith of Farmington and Aztec, Patrick and wife Jodie of Florence, Ariz.; three grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Jay was a farmer at heart but worked at several occupations throughout his life. He was the first greens keeper at San Juan Country Club and the first manager at B Square Ranch, worked on the Navajo and Cutter Dams, worked on pipelines, and ran a local Trading Post.
Jay served in the Army during World War II in the U. S. Army Air Corps and went to the Pacific, being stationed on the island of Tinian.
Jay was a Life Member of VFW Post 614, in Aztec.
Friends and family viewing will be at Cope Memorial Chapel, from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, March 25.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 26, at Cope Memorial Chapel, in Farmington; followed by grave side services conducted by VFW Post 614 in Greenlawn
