Raymond Dale Bell, 83, of Flora Vista, passed away Saturday, March 8, 2014. He was born in Roaring Springs, Texas, to Johnson Lee Bell and Mary Lou Stocking Bell.
He met Nellie Arlene Moore after moving to Farmington, and they were married May 30, 1949. He spent most of his life in the Farmington area.
Ray was known for his career as an over-the-road truck driver. He was employed by B&M Supply; Tuboscope, a military ammunition factory in Modesto, Calif.; El Paso Natural Gas Company, Gearhart Industries and Huntington Oil.
Ray was loved dearly by family and friends. He was notorious for telling truck driving stories and colorful jokes. Ray was a devoted supporter of his grandchildren's sports and other activities, sometimes making four events in one day. He also loved to attend the great-grandchildren's activities when his health permitted. They loved their "Pom" and will miss him dearly.
Ray is survived by his wife of 64 years, Nellie Arlene; daughters, Becky Weiss and husband Keith and Carrie Cockrell and husband Glen; grandchildren, Brandy and Deon Brown, Zachary and Jaime Weiss, Lindsey Schnell and Ryan Rowse, and Jamie and Mike Mead; six great-grandchildren; brother, Melvin Bell and wife Lynda; and numerous brothers and sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held at noon, Thursday, March 13, at the First United Methodist Church, 808 N. Monterey Ave. in Farmington.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Lung/Heart/Cancer Associations.
Special thanks to Lloyd Purcell, Ashley Smith, Dr. Dekay and staff, and Basin Home Health and Hospice, for the tender care of our dad.
Ray's care is entrusted to Brewer, Lee and Larkin Funeral Home, 103 E. Ute St. in Farmington, 505-325-8688. Those who wish to express their condolences may do so at www.serenityandcompany.com.

Ray was a very good Man. When he smiled, his whole face lit up, and so would the others around him. He always made me feel loved and that I belonged.
